serving one another
Jesus commanded his disciples that, as they go about their daily lives, to make disciples of all nations and to serve each other in love. At Islands Community Church (ICC) we hold a deep and abiding love for our God and for one another. We hold a fervent desire that all would come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ. The church gathering is not viewed as a place that can serve us but as a place in which we can serve others. Each week ICC expresses a love of community in service through an ever increasing number of service activities. Each serves in sharing the love of Christ and growing in a true knowledge of Him. Church family members are involved in a variety of practical ministries. What follows is a summary of opportunities and in no way represents an exhaustive list of service opportunities.
Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as cleaning the church, preparing church bulletins and making a fresh cup of coffee.
Mission Outreach
Islands Community Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom message around the world. We are active in sending missionaries
and supporting these missionaries with encouragement with, prayers, and our finances. We support missionaries both at home and abroad. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call to serve Him, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Worship Ministry
God-honoring, God-centered worship is something we strive for every day each week. Many of our church members are involved in our worship music ministry at ICC. Some are vocalists. Still others get involved through the reading of Scripture. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of ICC, each using their talents and gifts to glorify God and lead others into His presence.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio formats. Soon we will have video recordings and streaming capability. We also maintain an active Facebook feed and an email chain for additional church communication.
Prayer Ministry
Prayer cannot be overestimated or over exercised. Prayer is our most intimate act of worship, first seeking the face of God’s in adoration and praise even before we seek His hand in our neediness. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, we pray together as a church family, expressing our thanksgiving, interceding for family needs as well as praying for the ministry of the Word. Once a month the church comes together for a special time of focused prayer.
